The Influence of Internet on Modern Business

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 22, 2010 | No Comments

Through the internet, a business of any size can compete in the global marketplace. In fact, on the internet, the size of an organization’s operation makes little difference because the internet is an open environment.

Similar companies compete against one another while being only a click of the mouse away. In other words, a buyer can locate numerous sellers offering similar merchandise, similar prices and similar offers in a very short time period. As more people and businesses become comfortable with the internet, the marketing landscape will continue to evolve quickly in the coming years.

Use of the internet has exploded during the last few years in both the consumer and business-to-business markets. Although the experts still debate the future of the internet, no one doubts it is having an impact on how business is taking place in the twenty ‘first century, even with all of the – – dot crashes – – of the late 1990s. Here are some facts about the internet that highlight its tremendous growth and presence in society:

- The most common products consumers’ research online and purchase off-line (at the store or outlet) are: automobiles, computer, hardware, travel, electronics, books, appliances, music, sporting goods and clothing.

- Over 25 percent of all business-to-business purchases are placed through some type of internet connection.

- The five top business-to-business e-commerce products are computers and electronics, motor vehicles, petrochemicals, utilities, papers and office products.

- In 2004, 10 percent of business-to-business advertising dollars were spent on the internet. The total amount spent was $8.7 billion.

- About 54 percent of the e-mail users have responded to an e-mail advertisement. Almost half purchased a product.

- Internet retail sales account for almost 2.5 percent of all retail sales.

Business-to-business marketers were among the first companies actually to make profits using the internet. In today’s marketplace, the web is becoming the communication tool of choice for many business-to-business companies. The internet provides opportunities for communication, customer service, sales support, collaboration and e-commerce.

Some companies use the internet for every aspect of their business including taking orders, inventory control, production scheduling, communications plans, sales programs, service departments and support programs. The change from traditional communication channels such as salespeople, telephone and – – snail mail – -to the internet and e-mail happened quickly in some companies and more slowly in others.

Now, convincing top management of the benefits of internet marketing is essential. There is still a lack of internet expertise in the business community. As a result, many companies are turning to marketing agencies for guidance.

To conclude, the influence of the internet on various businesses and industries has been clearly noted in today’s world. The presence of the internet and e-commerce is so sweeping that the various applications of web technology are now essential elements of a fully integrated marketing communications program.

Cash Advance as a Small Business Loans

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 19, 2010 | No Comments

Every business loan is a risk for both the lender and the borrower. A promising business gives you the best chances of having your business loan request granted.

Lenders will usually look at your gross annual sales and revenues, credit score, checking account balances, profitability, and length of time you’ve been in business. For newbies in the business world, expect to be asked intensively about your business plans.

Your history with credit card services is a main factor for lenders. Credit information they usually look for are personal credit card debt, personal loans, liquid assets, real estate holdings, tax returns, and personal financial statements. Your personal spending habits will also be an issue, including how you use credit card services and installment debt. If you have a good track record of all of these, then you won’t have any problems with getting you business loan approved. But what if you have bad credit history? What alternatives do you have?

The answer is getting a business cash advance in place of a small business loan.

A business cash advance is the alternative option for business owners who need emergency funding. It is ideal for business owners subscribed to credit card services and/or charge cards. Monthly payment this type of business loan is done through batched credit card sales.

Approval for this type of small business loan takes a shorter amount of time and bad credit scores won’t be too much of an issue. The processing time for cash advance application is from 24 tp72 hours only. Some cash advance lenders can lend as much as $2500 to $300,000, depending on their evaluation.

Cash advance as a small business loan is very likely to get approved as long as you pass the basic requirements for the advance. First, you’re business should have been operational for at least a year. Your company should also at least have profits of $4000 in credit card processes per month.

The difference between a business cash advance and the usual small business loan are:

(1) A business cash advance does not require a detailed financial statement. Conventional business loans require 2-3 years worth of financial statements.

(2) Audited tax returns are not required for cash advances. Business loans from banks do.

(3) You only need to provide a guarantee against fraud or intervention.

(4) Application fees are not always required for this alternative business loan.

(5)No need for high credit scores. You only need to be subscribed to credit card services.

(6) Your collateral does not have to be all of your business assets.

(7) You can opt for a flexible monthly payment.

Cash advance as a business loan allows you to do almost anything for your business. You can pay taxes or debts, buy supplies, pay your employees, make repairs or remodeling, inventory, make new marketing and promotion materials, and expand your business establishment.

The idea behind cash advance repayment is not like the payment process for a small business loan. Repayment is made by automatically debiting an agreed percentage of your credit card sales every time you batch. There are no fixed payment schedules. You will only be able to pay when you’re customers pay.

Cash advance as a small business loan is very ideal for restaurant owners, retailers, medical clinics, and other new industries. Staying afloat for small business is harder, especially with the recession, and a cash advance is a quick solution for those emergency financial situations. After all, maintaining continuous cash flow for young establishments is difficult. With cash advance as an alternative business loan, you can get cash sooner and pay your loan easier.

How to Create a Successful Home Business

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 14, 2010 | No Comments

The Internet is full of ways to create a foolproof home business that makes you rich quickly and easily. I’m here to tell you that these offers are mere fallacies. There is no home business that is quick and easy and will instantly triple your income. Home businesses are hard work and require time, dedication and perseverance. But they are possible, and have the potential of making you a lot of money and keeping you at home where you belong.

While I can’t and won’t tell you which home business will work for you, I can give you suggestions for how to make your home business work.

DEDICATE YOURSELF TO YOUR HOME BUSINESS

Your devotion to your home business venture can never waver. It must come before all other financial opportunities. This is not to say that you have to quit your job in order to launch a home business. That would be a bad idea, at least until your home business is providing a steady stream of income. However, leave your job at work. Your home is the place for your home business, and you should try to keep your home free of other financial distractions.

Work on your home business whenever you possibly can. Dedicate every free moment you have to advancing your business. Spend time each and every day, including holidays, to furthering your home business, even if you just write down an idea or make a single contact. If you can meet one contact every day, then by the end of your first year, you’ll have 365. Dedicate yourself to your home business and your chances of success will improve drastically.

ESTABLISH GOALS AND A PLAN BEFORE YOU START A HOME BUSINESS

Starting a home business without a plan is like trying to sail from New York to India without a compass, map, or the stars. You might get there, but it would only be a matter of dumb luck. Never be content to rely on Luck. Think about your home business, what you want to achieve with it, and where you want it to be 5, 10, 15 years down the road. Establish goals, time lines, and marketing plans before you begin anything. These will be the blueprints that you use to build your home business.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY

While you need to have a well-thought out plan before you begin a home business, do not be afraid to deviate from it if an unforeseen opportunity pops up. You should never rely on Luck, bet never ignore Luck when she is offering you her hand. Businesses are built on taking advantage of opportunities. Don’t be afraid to throw those blueprints that you made to the wind if something better should come along. Home businesses have to be flexible, because we live in an ever-changing world.

REMEMBER YOUR FAMILY

If you don’t have a family, don’t neglect your friends. You can’t be successful without support from other people. If you husband or wife is not behind you and your home business, then your chances of success plummet. You will be distracted by their anger and hurt feelings, and will not be able to dedicate your free time to your home business, because you will be thinking about your family. You have to come out of the working world eventually, and when you do, you need to have someone there to be your companion. Not only that, but your friends and family can be useful allies in the creation of a home business. No one can do everything alone, and the people around you are natural, and usually willing, resources. Never forget about the ones that you love.

Your Business Card Should be Your Best Salesman

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 8, 2010 | No Comments

One of the most important building blocks of a good marketing plan is your business card. It is far and away the most likely item to find its way into the hands of your most important business contacts. And it is the one thing that is likely to remain when all your other marketing materials are long gone.

In other words, your business card is much more than just a piece of paper with your name, address and phone number printed on it. It is a powerful sales tool. And it should be designed with that purpose in mind.

What can a business card do for your business?

Before asking the inevitable questions about the design of your business card, you should ask what its function in your overall marketing plan is supposed to be. A properly designed business card has at least four important marketing functions. Here they are:

1. It helps you to introduce your company. 2. It provides critical contact information about you or your company. 3. It conveys your most important sales message. 4. It communicates your corporate image.

An introduction to your company

This may seem obvious, but think about it for a minute. Think of your business card as a tool for opening doors. Think of yourself at a meeting, or even at a social event. What better way to introduce yourself to a person than to hand them your card?

I’m not talking about shoving your card on people who don’t want it. I’m talking about using your card as a tool to make useful connections with people who are likely to appreciate the introduction.

This suggests you should think of appropriate introductory “openers” to accompany your card. For instance, say you’re at a business connections meeting. Since the purpose of the meeting is to meet people and do “networking”, you might try a simple card swap strategy: “Hi, I’m Harriet Phillips. I’m swapping business cards with as many people as I can. Here’s my card. May I have one of yours for my contact file?”

Every situation will be a bit different, but the function of the card remains the same: it provides you with an excuse to introduce your business to people who might be able to use your services.

Provide critical contact information on your card

Before you put your card into the hands of prospects, you want to make sure it communicates the most important things about you and your company.

Deciding what information is “critical” will vary from situation to situation. The basics are pretty obvious: your name, your company name, your business address, and the most effective way for people to get hold of you ? probably your telephone number and email address.

Rather than putting your cell or pager number on all your cards, you might make a point of writing it on the card when you think it is appropriate: “Here, I’ll give you my cell number, just in case you can’t reach me at my office number.” That gives the impression you’re giving this person special treatment.

Include Your Most Important Sales Message

Even more important than giving prospects your basic contact information is conveying your Most Important Sales Message. According to Cesar Crespo of Free Card Business Card Opportunities, “Business people often miss a golden opportunity to make their business card a powerful sales tool. Our clients are often surprised at how much more effective we can make their cards.”

If you don’t have a “Most Important Sales Message”, you should create one. It is a brief, succinct statement of what your company is about. It is the answer to the question: “What does your company do?” If you don’t have a “Most Important Sales Message”, you should create one. It is a brief, succinct statement of what your company is about. It is the answer to the question: “What does your company do?”

Sometimes this kind of answer is called an “elevator speech”. You’re on an elevator and somebody asks you “What does your company do?” You have six or seven seconds to give a memorable reply. Good elevator speeches go beyond hackneyed answers like “We do web marketing” or “We make bowling balls.” They are confidence-inspiring marketing statements: “We create websites that sell tons of products for people.” or “We make the world’s most beautiful bowling balls.”

Your MISM (Most Important Sales Message) will often be a “product” (as in the bowling ball example above), but it should always be accompanied by a “pitch” of some kind or another. Often this will be what we usually think of as a slogan.

For your elevator speech you need a seven second slogan. For your business card you will need the same slogan in four or five words at the most. It must be boiled down to an string of words that not only sounds good, but looks good on the card: “Websites that Sell Like Crazy”, “The World’s Most Beautiful Bowling Balls”, “The Discount Real Estate Guy”, “The Source for Cottages and Summer Homes”, “Beautiful Color Vinyl Banners.”

Be Consistent with your Corporate Image

Finally, make your card consistent with your corporate image and the rest of your marketing materials. Usually this boils down to basic things like your choice of colors, typeface, and layout style. And of course you will want to include your company logo.

Usually your marketing consultant or graphic designer will want to plaster your logo on all your marketing materials, using the logo as a substitute for real marketing design. “We must convey a consistent corporate image” is the usual mantra. What ever you do, don’t ask “Why?” That question opens the way for tedious theorizing about “the long term importance of developing a corporate image.”

You would be better to agree. “Yes, by all means, we want to present a consistent corporate image.” And then add, “But I want this card to do some selling for me, so I would like to give the sales message a bit more prominence than usual.”

In other words, use the usual corporate colors, typeface and layout style. Include the logo too. But give prominence to the sales message. Show a picture of your product. Or if you think you are the product (as most real estate agents seem to think), then include your own picture. But don’t forget to enhance the photo with that slogan we talked about in the previous section.

And now that you have a killer card, get out there and start handing them out.

The Impact of Trade Leads on Your Business

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 6, 2010 | No Comments

When it comes to the import export business, a trade lead refers, basically, to a business lead. That is, someone representing a business has information that might be beneficial to another company.

If no one can find out about the information, how valuable is it? Not very. Enter trade leads as a way for businesses to effectively communicate with one another.

Why are they so important? Good question. Trade leads have a lot of benefits for businesses. They can reduce costs and the time it takes to make a transaction. This can help reduce supplier costs,.

Another benefit (somewhat obvious) to trade leads is that they generate new business contacts, and have the potential to increase sales for a business.

A lot of trade leads in the import export business happen online via the Internet. Typically, companies or representatives of companies will post on websites asking for trade leads for a specific business or a general industry.

Utilizing the far reaching qualities of the Internet, these trade leads are soon seen by a lot of people. Chances are someone in the world has the information the person is looking for – or knows a person that would be interested.

Within a matter or minutes or hours, information can be exchanged and new business connections made.

Trade leads are basically nothing more than small advertisements that include buying or selling offers for products and/or services. While this seems like a relatively simple thing – someone has information that another person might find useful and worth a bit of money – but in the past it took a lot of work to build networks of people using old forms of communication.

Enter the Internet. With a quick and easy way for a lot of people to communicate over vast distances, trade leads become an even more invaluable resource. The Internet was built for communication and helps those in the import export business who want to generate new leads.

If you stop and think about it, it goes beyond just being able to reach people faster. The Internet allows businesses to communicate with a lot more people. While in the past companies might look to work with other companies in their local area, it’s quickly becoming a world marketplace.

Trade leads for import export allow companies to network with a lot of other people, increasing the chance they’ll find the one perfect trade lead that makes a difference in their bottom line. And this is what business is all about – lowering the bottom line and increasing profit. Trade leads are a very important part of this process. They have been in the past and will only continue to be more important as time passes and the global economy really awakens.

Business continuity, a guide to keeping your services live

Posted by admin | Filed under Business | Oct 1, 2010 | No Comments

Information Technology lies at the very heart of today’s organisations and many companies are now so dependent on their networks that they take them for granted. In today’s 24/7 digital economy, just imagine the business implications of critical data being lost, internet and email access being unavailable or your internal network going down.

The impact of the unexpected on your business, whether in the form of malicious damage such as hacking or some kind of natural disaster, can be devastating in the networked world. Take for example the 2007 flash floods across the UK. Following the wettest May to July on record, approximately 7,100 businesses were flooded and the resulting damage cost an estimated £3 billion1. However, this figure fails to take into account the cost of lost business during that period, when some companies were unable to operate a normal (if any) service, or the damage to reputation that the inability to communicate caused. No-one can predict the future, but by carefully planning in advance you can ensure that your business is in the best possible position, if and when disruption occurs.

To meet resiliency requirements for coping with both unexpected events and increasing volumes of data, today’s businesses require more than Next Generation Network capability alone. They need a combination of robust network capability and a next generation service mindset from their telecoms provider. When it comes to business resiliency, it’s not simply a case of ‘one size fits all’. ntl:Telewest Business closely collaborates with its customers and tailors its services to meet their needs. The next generation of business resiliency is here.

What level of resilience is needed?

Different industries have unique requirements for resilience. In the banking industry, for example, access to accurate, real-time buying and selling data is critical and business continuity and resiliency are considered so important that they are subject to specific regulations such as Basel II. However, for the majority of businesses, the rules and regulations are not so strict, and yet the implications of a network collapse without sufficient backup systems can be equally severe. This is particularly true when you consider that, according to the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 80 per cent of small to medium sized businesses go out of business within 18 months of experiencing a major network problem and 90 per cent of businesses that lose data in a disaster are forced to shut within two years.

The indisputable fact is that all business premises, no matter what the organisation’s size or industry, face the risk of disasters and they need to bring certainty to how they store and use their information. Firms need to be able to move their data around freely and ensure that it is 100 per cent backed up from every site, minimising the exposure to risk at any one site and making sure that the most important data is prioritised.

What types of network meet the requirement?

Network capability and flexibility provide the technology platform for next generation telecoms providers to roll out a resilient service. As well as being able to withstand unexpected events, today’s networks need to be able to cope with the everincreasing amounts of information being transported by today’s businesses. Their needs have extended from just email and web browsing to encompass multimedia applications, image-driven, user-generated content and video. In order to cope with these burgeoning volumes of data and the swift pace of operational change, networks need to be both extremely resilient and scalable. Rapidly growing workforces require constant, uninterrupted access to business resources and only a Next Generation Network can provide the flexibility and resilience required.

ntl:Telewest Business’ £13 billion Next Generation Network was built specifically with the demands of the digital age in mind and, based on fibre-optic technology, it is highly resilient. The Next Generation Network is capable of delivering the next generation IP and Ethernet services required by today’s fast-moving business and, as bandwidth can be increased quickly and painlessly in line with demand, scalability issues are overcome. In order to significantly reduce the volume of faults on their networks, today’s telcos also need to engage far earlier in proactive network management. By constantly monitoring its network, ntl:Telewest Business ensures that potential issues can be identified before they develop into problems. As a result, both the network’s performance and the user’s experience are significantly improved.

How can every eventuality be covered?

Maintaining business continuity is not as simple as deploying two separate links to your business sites, there are a number of considerations that have to be taken into account. How far a customer wants to go in assuring resilience depends on the importance of their information assets and their budget, but there are four key business continuity measures that can be taken into consideration.

As there are two UK-wide access networks, ntl:Telewest Business’ and BT’s, it stands to reason that if information is your organisation’s lifeblood you should not trust all of your services to just one network. Having an alternative access network in place ensures that critical applications continue to run even if one provider has a major outage. An alternative transmission path can also handle unexpected peaks in traffic and provide protection against denial of service attacks, which are designed to swamp networks with traffic and cause them to buckle.

The second business continuity measure is eliminating a single point of failure for the availability of voice and data services. Rather than relying on a single network provider to deliver connectivity between a site and the rest of the private network or the internet, businesses can run multiple links to their sites, guaranteeing up-time should one of the lines be inadvertently damaged and rendered unusable. In the event of network connectivity being destroyed over one connection, services can seamlessly divert to the backup connection, maintaining continuous data transfer and call availability.

One of the most basic disaster recovery tools that businesses should consider is spreading their risks across the network. By creating a mirrored system in which all information and applications are regularly and automatically backed up at different points on the network, businesses can ensure that information is protected in the event that one part of the network experiences an outage.

Multiple Ethernet connections into a Virtual Private Network (VPN) with any-to-any connectivity enable organisations to decentralise their IT across multiple sites and replicate their business-critical data. If a problem does occur, whether it is a natural disaster or simply a power failure, employees should be able to work from home and log onto their VPN remotely, safe in the knowledge that the network is secure and work can continue as usual, albeit off-site. This any-to-any connectivity overcomes the needs for backup circuits.

Finally, in the event of one of an organisation’s main circuits going down, forcing all data to run over the other and increasing the risk of a network bottleneck, the prioritisation of critical data is essential. The application of up to eight classes of service over the ntl:Telewest Business network, with predefined Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, will also ensure that business critical data is delivered in advance of lower priority traffic such as internet data. This way organisations can ensure their business critical applications continue to perform at optimum levels, even in adverse conditions.

With such an array of business continuity options available, organisations require a telco provider that’s prepared to sit down and discuss the most appropriat
e solution for their unique needs, risks and budget. ntl:Telewest Business collaborates closely with all sizes of business, not just its largest customers with big communication budgets. Consultative and technologically-savvy local service teams, both at the presales and project management stages, work hand-in-glove with the customer to ensure they receive the most appropriate solutions for their business.

How can businesses design and provision truly resilient networks?

True business resilience can only be attained when network capability is fused with a high level of consultative input at the stage of designing new network infrastructures. Until now, the legacy telco practice has been to keep customers at arm’s length from the services they use and act as merely a circuit provider, rather than responding to customers’ requirements. The next generation of telecoms providers need to invest in their service delivery, and not solely their network, ensuring that their customers feel connected to their telco teams as well as their network.

As a next generation telecoms provider, ntl:Telewest Business is committed to sitting down with organisations, listening to and understanding their individual requirements. This way it can help the customer implement measures appropriate to the risk associated with the type of traffic on its network, with a design that reflects the confines of the budget.

A customer-centric mindset and ‘can do’ attitude ensures that ntl:Telewest Business collaborates with its customers from the start, helping to plan, design, and implement their networks. But it doesn’t stop there, many of the same teams remain all the way through integration and while the network is running. No one can predict the future, but by working with a telecoms provider that has such a Next Generation Network and a customer-centric mindset, you’ll be better prepared for any eventuality.

Make the Leap to Home Business Success

Why MUST you have a successful Home Business? What is driving you? What is it that you CAN’T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?

For me, I couldn’t stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my

life and finances through a little box (laptop computer) that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone’s time pressures or demands but my own. That was my

carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children’s lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in a home based business would provide for me. I

found my why. You MUST find yours.

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.

If you don’t believe that it’s POSSIBLE for you to have a successful home based business or make your living from home, you won’t. It’s that simple.

For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money working from home. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.

There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money working from home. Just get online and do some research and you’ll find countless testimonials and stories of REAL PEOPLE making real money on the Internet. Or head to your local bookstore and you’ll find the same documented evidence of this fact. Truth is, it’s getting easier and easier to make money with your own home based business.

I’ve always said that “affiliate marketing” (a simple way to make money from home) is the job of the future. In the old days, you had to go to a potential employer, apply for the position and

hope for the best. Now you can simply go to any company you want, fill out their affiliate application and start work immediately. Affiliates are the new working class. In fact, making money with affiliate programs or making your living on the Internet is WAY MORE than possible. It is pretty much (or will be soon enough) unavoidable now. Affiliate marketing is the “job” of the future that’s already here TODAY.

You must be willing to MAKE THE LEAP.

Ready, FIRE, then aim… This is the operating philosophy you MUST adopt to succeed with a Home Based Business.

That’s backwards for most people who like to aim before they fire. The fact is that home based business success is a moving target… The only thing constant about it is change. You need to stop analyzing the game and simply jump into it. You can’t learn from the outside… You have to be *IN THE RING* to truly understand and profit from it. In fact, this is a business where you can truly be earning WHILE you’re still learning…

The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start a home based business. You simply have to start one. It’s like having children… You’re never really ready, but when it

happens you adapt and grow and therefore you succeed. This is what I call: “Making the Leap”!

The good news is that the cost of failure with having your own home based business is very small. In the “brick and mortar” world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you

decide to open up a business. It’s almost always necessary to invest thousands of dollars to get an offline business off the ground. However, on the Internet you can often start a successful business for less than $100. The Plug-In Profit Site is a great example of this where you can get your own money-making site setup free within 24 hours:

You simply need get IN THE GAME… Each moment that you stay “out there,” you’re wasting valuable time that you could be learning and skills necessary to build a successful home based business. In fact, if you’re not in the game yet, you’re ALREADY behind the times… Make the leap to starting and building a successful home business TODAY!
